So, we all have made it past the year 2021.

It has been a hell of a year with the waves of Covid-19 moving up and down unexpectedly. Now, when you look back, you might feel grief for the losses and still find a sense of relief for the ones you have held closer and the milestones you achieved even after the bumpy ride the past year gave.

Trust us, we are in the same boat. The year 2021 has been an uphill battle for us. While the chaotic cries rising from every corner of the country kept us anxious (just like everyone else), the challenge of onboarding new clients and projects kept us on our toes.

Although we sailed through the first year of Covid with ease, the second year hit our business. So, Development Logics slowed down a bit (but we are thankful to the clients who stood with us during those tough times). Some of our oldest employees also bid us adieu as they moved on to new chapters in their lives.

2021 has taught us a lot and threw challenges after challenges our way. As we enter 2022 with grace, we would like to recollect our mistakes, learnings, and achievements of the last year.

To Err is Human, But Wise Learn From Mistakes

Amidst all that was happening around the world and inside our own little world of Development Logics, we saw setbacks. One of the biggest lessons we learned came from a project that we accepted. We misjudged the project budget estimation and completion time. It was a fixed-budget web application project, and we promised to deliver it in 6 months.

However, it took us 18 months to complete the project. First, not delivering a project within the promised deadline is not appreciable in itself. Furthermore, we had been firm to meet the quality expectation, although it delayed the delivery. This project gave us many learning experiences, and we drew some conclusions based on this experience to make it easier for us once and for all.

  • We resolved that we will refrain from accepting fixed-budget projects if the estimated delivery time of such a project is more than 2 months.
  • We also determined that work-from-home is not a fit-for-all solution. To derive a successful WFH ecosystem, your team must be self-reliant, knowledgeable, skillful, and committed towards goals.

We know that WFH is here to stay. Even if we open our corporate offices, for now, it can’t be fully functional this way until the virus leaves us permanently. So, to combat the workforce challenges, we are grooming the talent within the organization and have restructured the team entirely.

We utilized the time we were allowed to work-from-office in conducting training programs and determining individual goals for each team member. We are now more confident in successfully working remotely if the situation demands.

Despite the past two years have been a complete washout, we are now even more prepared and working harder to achieve our goals. We have also started to invest in product development and are rolling out our products in the ‘beta’ phase.

The Projects We Delivered in 2021

While we start the new year acknowledging screw-ups and collecting our learnings, we cannot undermine our team’s hard work and the achievements that it has led us to. We have managed to build some loyal client-base and attain business goals not only for them but for ourselves too.

SEO

Search Engine Optimization is one of our primary services. The past year we handled two projects and successfully delivered what we promised.

  1. We helped a Pune-based plant protein ingredient manufacturer and supplier attain ranking on the first page of the Google search engine.
  2. We also helped a UK-based medical & healthcare gloves manufacturer to appear on the first page of SERP during COVID.

Web-Development

We built three different websites for three of our clients. We customized these websites using various tools to deliver tailored solutions based on their businesses’ requirements.

  1. Kentucky based Waste Management Company
  2. Georgia Based Real Estate Company
  3. Dubai Based strategy and corporate consulting firm

Social Media Marketing

From time to time, we work closely with local and state governments to take their initiatives a level up through digitization. Last year, we ran two social media awareness campaigns on Facebook and Instagram for the Women and Child Development Office in Kangra, Dharamshala.

The objectives of these campaigns were:

  • Poshan: To create awareness among the women of Kangra District, Himachal Pradesh regarding:
    1. Steps to prevent anemia.
    2. Complimentary food to be prepared at home for children.
    3. Steps to reduce the risk of delivering low-weight babies.
  • Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao: To create awareness among the people of Kangra District, Himachal Pradesh for:
    1. The prevention of gender-biased sex selective elimination.
    2. Survival & protection of the girl child.
    3. Involvement of the girl children in education and development.

The campaign ran for two months, and we reached 571,693 users on Facebook and Instagram.

Web Application

We developed a web application for one of our Dutch clients. The application offers an online examination platform to MBO institutions to unburden them of organizing and maintaining the quality of electives. MBO aka Secondary Vocational Education is a popular type of education among Dutch people that provides students with occupational training along with regular studies. There are more than 50 elective exams already available on the platform along with additional facilities to easily develop more of them.

The web application offers online multiple-choice tests for knowledge assessment, skill check, and portfolio building. The content for the exams can be modified as per the requirement. This modern and paperless platform has already been used by many MBO institutions in the Netherlands.

Customer Support

Development Logics also offers customer support services to various industries. Last year we catered to two of the clients that outsourced the customer support domain to us.

  1. We provide 24/7 sales and customer support to an ed-tech company. The company facilitates e-learning and ed-tech solutions for teachers and educators. Our chat support team onboarded 3,857 people for free trials. They took on an average of 4000 chats a month in the year 2021.
  2. We offer complaint handling and customer support services to a utility provider. The complaint and grievance support operated for 12 hours a day throughout the year even during COVID. Our team handled on average handled 15000 calls and 7500 helpdesk tickets in a month.

Adapting to The Situation

“The mode of work the entire year remained flexible with members visiting the office only when needed.”

The flexible work mode kept us enthusiastic throughout the year. While the anxiety of COVID never left, we were able to motivate each other. Our teams worked from home mostly but had the flexibility to visit the corporate office from time to time for meetings and get-togethers. This flexibility helped us keep going as we all understand that work from home can get overwhelming sometimes.

Looking at the current situation of COVID, we are still flexible in terms of work mode. Keeping limited health resources and families in mind, teams are working from home and can visit the office twice a week.

Adding to Our List of Achievements: Vayudoot

Vayudoot: A sister company of Development Logics also did great last year. Vayudoot is the fastest broadband service in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.

Here we are summarizing some of the accomplishments of Vayudoot in 2021.

  1. We connected rural areas in Himachal Pradesh with optical fiber & RF (radio frequency).
  2. Providing services to gram panchayats, public health centers, and government schools.
  3. Launched an app for customers to pay internet bills seamlessly.
  4. We laid more than 200 km of fiber with redundant links connecting major towns.
  5. Facilitated more than 1000 internet connections in 2021.
  6. The Vayudoot team was fully operational during the pandemic and the second wave in India.

Holding Up the Hope

“The new dawn blooms as we free it. For there is always light if only we’re brave enough to see it, if only we’re brave enough to be it.” – Amanda Gorman

We can’t decide our fate, but we can direct it with our intentions and actions. Despite the time being difficult and the end of the tunnel seeming so far, we have held our hopes high. We are entering the new year with all the zeal and positivity. Carrying the learnings of the past, we are now all set to rock this year.

Hope you are also all determined to work a little harder towards your goals and keep your spirits high for the year that’s unfolding now.
