Born and brought up in Kolkata, Paromita worked for over a decade in Mumbai – the financial capital of India – before moving to Dharamshala. Her search for an organization that is aligned with her professional and life goals brought her to us in 2014. Here, we share with you her story of finding solace in the mountains while steering her career forward in new and exciting directions.

Navigating Through Uncertainties

As the HR Manager of Development Logics and Operations Manager of our sister enterprise Vayudoot, Paromita wears multiple hats. Her love for people and processes fills her with the enthusiasm to face each new day full of challenges.

In a startup environment, uncertainties are a part and parcel of life. In recent times, this has reached a whole new level with the onset of the pandemic. But Paromita is a natural when it comes to keeping up with the demands of bootstrapped tech businesses – like ours – in a small city. Whether it is managing the HR processes of remote teams or pushing the activity pipelines forward in a pandemic-stricken environment, she finds a sense of both adventure and joy in her job.

She says, “Every day I have new and unique challenges coming my way, and I enjoy solving them with the help of the team. For example, we are currently using tools like Slack, email, phone & WhatsApp for communication. There were a few hiccups in the initial days, but our team has now become absolutely comfortable with virtual collaboration.”

A One-of-a-kind Experience

8 years back, Dharamshala became her destination when she shifted base from Mumbai in search of a better role and a more aligned workplace. As time passed, she couldn’t help falling in love with the hill-town. According to her, “this place has the perfect mix of everything – be it brands, movies, or the breathtaking views all around. The influx of people from various walks of life joining this city has made it a melting pot of various cultures – which is so exciting.”

Despite all the charms, most small cities continue to remain behind when it comes to the availability of a quality workforce, and Dharamshala is no exception. “The people here tend to be a little laid-back. They are not very enthusiastic – at least professionally speaking,” she observes. “But that’s a given in any small town in India. I love the fact that people are so warm and friendly here. There’s a sense of community which has a charm of its own,” she adds.

This made it all the more surprising for Paromita when she found that despite being located in a tier-III city, Development Logics is a highly professional organization that cares about people, profit, and productivity while giving ample space to its employees to learn and grow. “This company seems like the best of both worlds to me. There’s a lot of structure, discipline, and commitment, but there’s also openness, freedom, and immense scope for learning. To be able to continuously improve at work is very rewarding and fulfilling.”

Unwinding After Work

Before COVID-19 struck, Paromita spent her Sundays hopping across cafes in and around Dharamshala. Now, she indulges in her love for music and world cinema.

Growing Together

For now, Paromita feels settled in her newfound home and career. She hopes to add value to our twin ventures through her hands-on problem-solving approach and improve as a professional in the process. “I look forward to growing together with the company,” she says, “because that’s the best kind of growth one can pursue!”
