Rahul Mankotia has been a part of the Development Logics family as a Chat and Voice Executive for the last 4 years. Here, he shares with us how he jump-started his career from the scenic but opportunity-deprived hill-town of Dharamshala, his experience of working with us, and what keeps him going in the face of all odds.

A Bend in the Road & The Beginning of a Journey

Back in 2016, when Rahul completed his graduate studies in Mechanical Engineering, he was faced with a unique dilemma. Most of his seniors and peers were leaving Dharamshala and migrating to top tier cities in search for jobs that pay well and boost the resume.

But for Rahul, following their footsteps was not an option.

Being the only child of his ageing parents who had battled grave health conditions in the past, staying back in his hometown was necessary. At the same time, he also needed to find a secure job that would compensate him well and enable him to progress in his career.

It is at this point in his life that he chanced upon an opening at Development Logics – a progressive enterprise-tech company nestling in the mountain-town of Dharamshala in Kangra Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Rahul’s ability to learn and an aptitude for technology earned him a spot here. And since then, there has been no looking back.

Rising Up to the Challenge & Donning Multiple Hats

Today, he has over 3.5 years of experience as a Chat Executive and 1.5 years of experience as a Voice Executive under his belt. Having demonstrated his commitment to work, he has also got the opportunity to dabble in Development Logics’ internet services arm – Vayudoot – and as a part of the company’s pre-sales team.

But for all this to happen, Rahul needed to stretch his limits and groom himself to fit the various roles that he was juggling. From speaking proficiently in English to managing foreign clients and solving their technical needs, he has given his 100% right from day one to become the asset that he is today.

Speaking of the most exciting part of his work, he says, “I basically work on a tech-process for a U.S. client which has been outsourced to Development Logics. The most exciting part of this process is that we get to interact with clients and partners from the U.S. and visitors from all over the world which indeed is a great experience to add to my resume. Being a U.S. focused project, we often have to pull off all-night shifts which most people usually avoid. But I have always been quite comfortable with staying up at night and this turned out to be advantageous.”

But It’s More Than Just Work That Keeps Him Going…

Rahul believes that apart from a rewarding job profile, it is being surrounded by amazing team members and a supportive leadership that motivates him to deliver his best every single day on this job.

He says, “The organization has wonderful people with whom I love to work with. I look forward to working with and meeting up with my team members on a daily basis. The work culture of this organization is appreciable. Everyone here follows the organization’s rules guidelines to develop a strong work culture, job satisfaction, and increased productivity. Employees are cordial with each other and top performers are appreciated. Team building activities are promoted by the leadership to bind the team together. I believe that work culture plays an important role in extracting the best out of employees and making them stick to the organization for a longer duration.”

Keeping It Together: Ensuring Work-Life Balance in the Long Haul

So how does Rahul ensure that he doesn’t burn out?

He says, “I try blending in my responsibilities, keep a schedule, work with a purpose in mind and never compartmentalize. My interests are watching the news, reading and watching stuff related to science and technology, and traveling to new places. My hobbies include hiking, painting, and crafts.”

Beyond Career: Proud to Be Contributing to the Changing Face of Dharamshala

For Rahul, it is equally exciting that joining Development Logics has brought him to the forefront of Dharamshala’s evolving industrial scenario and job-market. He says, “Dharamshala is a small and quiet town sitting on the footsteps of the Dhauladhar ranges. Having an office in one of the finest locations in the world that is also my hometown is a great feeling. But this place has been in the shadows for a long time in terms of job opportunities. That is changing now, and I feel privileged to be a part of this change.”

He adds, “Even today, when I talk about my work with people, they feel surprised that such opportunities even exist in Dharamshala. I feel like I am a part of something bigger than myself or the job I am doing. It is a great feeling, and I am thankful to Development Logics for the same.”
